What Tally’s free plan tells you about its paid plans.
When you research a competitor, the monthly price is only one part of the picture. The useful question is: what makes a customer need to upgrade?
The observation
Tally’s pricing page offers unlimited forms and submissions on its free plan, subject to fair use. Pro adds features including custom domains and removal of Tally branding. Business adds controls such as data retention and email verification. Source: Tally pricing, checked September 2, 2026.
Our reading
The upgrade is partly about running a branded, controlled workflow. Counting features alone would miss that distinction.
That is an interpretation of the offer, not evidence of what converts or why Tally’s customers buy. It gives you a question to investigate with your own customers.
Try this on your market
- 1. Choose three products serving the same buyer. Write down the job someone can finish on each free or entry plan.
- 2. Find the upgrade trigger. Is it more usage, branding, collaboration, governance, or another need?
- 3. Check the billing unit. Compare seats, usage allowances, billing period and add-ons before comparing the headline price.
- 4. Turn it into a customer question. Ask about the last time that limit caused a problem. Use the answer to test your own offer.
